I never thought I would find a parallel between my virtual assistant services and my toddler, but I have. The other day I had to take my 3 year old in to get pre-screened. I went in with my chest puffed out feeling very peacock-ish, if that's a word. You see, my Mother, when she was alive and his nanny- did "Your Baby Can Read" daily. They did flash cards, watched the videos, read books, and did reviews almost all day! My 3 year old knew what a hexadecagon is (thank you Google for teaching ME). Needless to say I left there feeling like a mouse. The teachers said that even though my son's knowledge was way above average, he had trouble focusing enough to give them the right answer. Therefore, all the knowledge in the world wasn't going to be of any assistance to him if he couldn't use it at the right time and apply it. On the drive home I started thinking of how this seems a lot like my clients. Most of my clients are involved in a mastermind, online forum, group of some sort, or at least they go to conventions. It's at these places that they learn the facts. Albeit, they learn a little here and a little there. They DO have some knowledge of what to do to perform Internet marketing. However, like my son, they seem to suffer from shiny object syndrome and aren't sure when to utilize that knowledge to best help themselves. That's why virtual assistant services can be a huge help. If you find a virtual assistant who specializes in Internet marketing, they can guide you through the steps you need to take to launch your brand, and most importantly , keep you on track. All the knowledge in the world won't help you if you don't know what order to do things in or why you're doing them. Your job is not to be the expert in Internet marketing- you have a subject matter expertise! Feeling that you always have someone that you need to check in with may also deter you from constantly changing your mind, direction, or heading out on the next whim. When faced with the idea of telling your virtual assistant that you are once again going to do something a little different or on the spur of the moment- you may start to see yourself from another perspective. This accountability can't be obtained by someone who isn't in your business, so to speak- daily like a virtual assistant is. Don't try to do our job too! Relax and let someone else help you.
